Construction: What You See and What Matters

• Outer Material: smooth matte synthetic fabric in foliage grey color (grey-beige)
• Insulation: inner filler that creates a noticeably voluminous silhouette
• Cut: loose throughout the length, designed to be worn over other layers
• Waistband: elastic with a zipper fastener in the front center
• Pockets: two side slits in the upper part

How to Wear: Layering Logic

Level 7 is the outer insulating layer worn over the base and mid-layer thermal garments of the ECWCS system. The loose voluminous cut is designed specifically for this use: fleece or softshell pants fit underneath without compression. Elastic cuffs allow you to tuck the bottom into boots or gaiters without leaving a gap for wind.

Difference from Civilian Insulated Pants

The quilted cut with sections on the thighs and knees is not an aesthetic solution, but a functional one. It fixes the filler in areas of maximum heat exchange and prevents it from bunching during active movement. Army overtrousers of this class are designed for prolonged exposure to frost, not for short trips from the car to the store.
