Winter camouflage suit: a white camo suit worn over your gear

A camouflage suit is for anyone operating in snowy terrain in winter: a soldier holding a position or on the move, a hunter in a blind, an observer. It is not standalone clothing but a light outer layer worn over your jacket, trousers and equipment. It hides a dark silhouette against the snow, but it does not replace warm clothing. For other seasons, there is a wider choice among all our camouflage suits.

Which pattern to choose: white, blotch, pixel or Multicam

A solid white camouflage suit works well in an open field with an even snow cover. But where there are trees, bushes, shadows and bare patches, a solid white blob catches the eye on its own. For such places, a pattern with dark flecks is better: blotch, or white or white-and-black pixel, breaks up the outline of the figure.

A Multicam camouflage suit in the white version is designed for winter forest and mixed terrain where snow does not lie everywhere. Assess where exactly you will be: the same pattern looks completely different in a field and in a forest.

Fabric: lightweight, rubberized or with taped seams

A lightweight white camouflage suit is handy to keep in your backpack: the Klyaksa (Blotch) model is lightweight and, according to its description, weighs about 300 g. For lying in the snow for a long time, a rubberized Alpine or suits with a polyurethane coating and taped seams are better. The downside of dense fabrics is rustling and condensation inside while moving. If silence matters, look at the low-noise Alpine: it also packs into a compact stuff sack.

Most camouflage suits do not provide warmth — the layers underneath do. Only the Alpine Omni-Heat is insulated, with a Sintepon filling and pockets on the jacket.

How to choose the size

Choose a winter camouflage suit with everything that will be worn under it in mind: an insulated jacket, body armor, a chest rig. A tight suit restricts movement and tears at the bends. For tall people, the Veleten and the Klyaksa (Blotch) with taped seams are suitable, designed for a height of 180–200 cm. The Veleten has a balaclava and slits for access to the pockets of your main clothing, and the hood of the low-noise Alpine fits a helmet.

Frequently asked questions

Does a winter camouflage suit keep you warm?

No, a regular camouflage suit only provides concealment. The layers underneath protect you from the cold. The exception is the insulated Alpine Omni-Heat.

Can I wear just the jacket or just the trousers?

Yes, the jacket and trousers in the sets are separate. If you already have a white top or bottom, the second piece is enough.
