Battle Belt for Combat Gear

A battle belt is a wide MOLLE platform belt without shoulder straps, used to attach magazine pouches, a first-aid kit, a canteen and other gear. It shifts the weight of equipment to the hips and frees up the chest, so it suits those who wear a plate carrier or simply don't want a full harness system.

How a Belt Differs from a Full Belt Harness

The belt doesn't press on the shoulders or interfere with body armor, and magazines stay within reach even when lying down. The downside is limited capacity: if you load the belt with heavy pouches, it slides down and twists without straps. Some models, such as belts with an anatomical insert, let you add shoulder straps later and turn the belt into a full rig.

If you need a system with straps right away, see load-bearing systems and chest rigs.

With Pouches or an Empty Platform

A tactical belt with pouches, such as YAKEDA, is ready to use right away: it comes with pouches for rifle and pistol magazines, a canteen and small items. This is convenient for a first kit, but the set is fixed, and some pouches may turn out to be unnecessary.

A belt without pouches suits those who already have their own pouches or know exactly what they will carry and where. Just make sure the strap width of your pouches fits MOLLE.

What to Look for in the Design

Pay attention to the inner hook-and-loop belt, if one is included: it threads through your trouser loops and the outer belt attaches to it, so the belt does not rotate. A rigid insert and anatomical cut help it keep its shape under load and spread the weight across the lower back.

Some models, such as ERGO, have a pocket for a ballistic pack. Also check the adjustment range: YAKEDA is rated for 80 to 125 cm, War Belt 2M for 95 to 120 cm.

FAQ

Can a battle belt be worn together with a plate carrier?

Yes, battle belts are often worn together with a plate carrier. Pouches on the belt don't overlap with the front panel of the body armor as long as they stay out of the area under the plate. We deliver across Ukraine.
