CoolMax Tactical Socks

CoolMax socks are a good fit if your feet sweat in closed footwear: on a march, during a long shift or in training. CoolMax is a polyester fiber with a special profile that moves moisture from the skin to the outer layer of the fabric, where it evaporates faster. The foot stays drier, so the risk of blisters is lower. Prices range from 330 to 580 UAH.

When CoolMax is a good choice and when it is not

CoolMax socks work well from spring to autumn, and in winter as a base layer under a wool pair. On their own they are less warm than wool, so for freezing weather you should add warmer socks on top.

Synthetics absorb odor faster than wool, so for a long trip take several pairs to change into.

What to look for in the composition and how to care for them

The fiber is usually blended with cotton and elastane. For example, MIL-TEC CoolMax olive v2 socks are listed as 63% CoolMax polyester, 35% cotton and 2% elastane: cotton adds softness, and elastane keeps the shape. The higher the share of cotton, the more slowly the sock dries.
