Multicam pouches for a vest, plate carrier and belt

Multicam pouches are for those whose plate carrier, chest rig or battle belt is already in this camouflage and who don't want the attached gear to stand out as a patch of a different colour. Multicam is designed for mixed terrain, where greenery, dry grass and soil appear side by side, so it is chosen when conditions change from season to season. Below we explain what types are available in this pattern, how they differ in design, and what to look at so the pockets on your vest actually work rather than just looking good together.

What types are available in Multicam

The widest choice is for magazines: single, double and triple models, open and closed, for AK and RPK. The elastic triple model for AK / AR is stated to be compatible with 30- and 45-round magazines. For RPK there are double pouches, open and closed.

The second notable type is magazine dump pouches. Among them are the M-Tac Lite Elite, the Helikon-Tex Competition Dump Pouch with a rigid collar on a drawcord and a mesh bottom, and a simple model with extra hook-and-loop strips and snaps for attaching to a belt or vest. The rigid collar keeps the mouth open, so an empty magazine can be dropped in with one motion without looking. The mesh bottom doesn't trap dirt and makes it easier to empty the contents out.

The remaining models are narrowly specialised: for a grenade (standard and with a flap), a closed one for a tourniquet and one for a radio with a fastex buckle.

Multicam and MTP: do they go together

The Osprey MK IV magazine pouch is made in MTP, the British variant of Multicam. The pattern is similar, but the shades and the shape of the blotches differ slightly, so next to American Multicam such items may look like a part from another set. The effect on concealment is small. However, if a uniform look matters to you, place them next to other MTP gear or on the belt rather than in the centre of the vest.

The same applies to fabrics from different manufacturers: Multicam print on Cordura, nylon and Oxford changes differently after washing and fading. A new pouch on a worn vest will at first be noticeably brighter. This is normal, and the difference evens out over time.

Open, closed or elastic: what to choose for magazines

The open version gives the fastest reload, but the magazine is held in it only by a rubber band or strap, so after running, crawling or dismounting from a vehicle it's worth checking it. The closed one is slower, but it covers the magazine's mouth from sand and snow and keeps it from falling out. A convenient setup: one or two open pouches for the first reload and closed ones for spares.

The elastic design adapts to different magazine thicknesses and weighs almost nothing, and the top retaining loop on the triple model can be removed if it gets in the way. A typical mistake is buying a standard magazine pouch for RPK magazines: they are longer, so there are separate models for them. Don't confuse a dump pouch with a magazine pouch: only empty magazines go into it, and it doesn't secure its contents.

Before buying, check the attachment type. MOLLE models need free rows of webbing on the vest or belt, so plan in advance what goes where. If you need a different colour or type, see tactical pouches in all colours.

Frequently asked questions

Does the set include a magazine, grenade or tourniquet?

No, you are buying only the pouch itself, without contents. Choose magazines, a tourniquet or a radio separately. The easiest way is to try your own gear in it right after receiving it.

How much do Multicam pouches cost?

Prices range from 280 to 1 870 UAH. The cost depends on the type, material and design. We deliver across Ukraine.

Will Multicam work with a vest of a different colour?

Yes, the attachment doesn't depend on colour. However, on a solid-colour vest the camouflage blotches will stand out noticeably.
