Archon: Tactical Jackets and Pants for Every Season

Archon makes tactical outerwear from light windbreakers to winter jackets with several layers of insulation, plus pants for field trips and the city. The cut is restrained and military, the colors are solid (olive, coyote, black, grey) or Multicam, so the clothing works equally well on duty, on a hunt and in everyday wear.

How to Compare Archon Winter Jackets

Archon winter jackets differ mainly in their insulation, so compare what is inside rather than the model number. The 2.0 and 5.0 models combine G-Loft in the body and sleeves with Cocona 37.5 synthetic fill, a breathable polyurethane membrane and Vislon YKK underarm vent zips; the 5.0 adds an Omni-Heat panel across the back. The 8.0 has a ripstop shell, 3M Thinsulate insulation and a heat-reflective Omni-Heat lining.

The Archon 10.0 has a straight, roomy unisex cut with space for several layers underneath. The 1.0 and 3.0 jackets go without a hood: a stand collar covers the neck and nothing bunches up under a helmet or beanie.

What to Wear in Spring and Autumn

For the shoulder season, there are windbreakers and light jackets. Archon windbreakers are made of thin matte fabric with a high collar, elastic cuffs and hook-and-loop panels on the sleeves for patches, and they go over a T-shirt or hoodie. The ripstop light jackets and the Hunter model have an anatomical cut that does not restrict movement. For cooler days there are demi-season jackets: the 2.0 with a hood and light insulation, or the N2-B bombers with a removable hood and loose fit, comfortable behind the wheel and around town.

Archon Pants: Reinforced Cotton

Archon tactical pants are made of cotton with a little spandex, so the fabric holds its shape and gives slightly. The reinforced-knee model has eight cargo pockets with YKK zips and hook-and-loop closures, five wide belt loops for a tactical belt and an elastic waistband, while the summer version is simpler, with four pockets. In Multicam there are pants with accordion-pleated knees that keep the fabric from pulling tight when you squat. The rise is high and the leg straight, so they tuck into boots or sit over low shoes. Wash them in cool water without chlorine bleach.
