MM-14 Pixel Plate Carrier with Pouches
MM-14 Pixel Plate Carrier: How to Choose the Configuration
A pixel plate carrier is for those who want their gear to match the field uniform in the Ukrainian MM-14 camouflage. This kind of Ukrainian Armed Forces plate carrier is bought for yourself or as a gift for a serviceman, and the main question is not the color but the configuration: how many pouches come with it right away and which of them you will actually use. The plate carrier is sold without armor plates and does not provide protection on its own — the plates have to be selected separately.
3, 6 or 7 Pouches in the Set
The version with three pouches is a basic option for those who mainly need magazine pouches and plan to build the rest of the setup to their own needs. In one of these models the pouches are removable, attach via MOLLE, and each is designed for one or two magazines. You can start with the minimum and add what you need later.
Sets with six pouches, such as the Kiborg GU gen.2, give more room for various gear right away. In the seven-pouch models the layout is specific: four for magazines, two auxiliary ones for a radio, and one large one for a first-aid kit or personal items. This is convenient if you don't want to buy extra gear separately, but extra pouches add weight and restrict movement, so remove the ones you don't use.
Groin Protector, Belly Pouch and Plate Retention
The groin protector hangs below the front panel and covers the lower abdomen. At the same time, it slightly limits bending and getting into a vehicle, so for long marches and for drivers it is not always convenient. Check the specific model's product page to see whether it has a place for a protective insert.
The version with a groin protector and a belly pouch suits those who need quick access to small items at the front. The model with dual plate retention is designed for those who need the plate not to shift while moving; see the description for how exactly the retention is built.
What Else to Check Before Buying
Pay attention to the quick-release system: the Single Sword is stated to have four release points with buckles on both sides. For the seven-pouch models, adjustment in width and height is specified — this helps fit the vest over winter clothing. Check the size and thickness of the plates that fit into the plate carrier against the specifications of the exact model you are choosing.
An MM-14 pixel plate carrier costs from 3 420 to 7 650 UAH, and the price difference mostly depends on the configuration. If you need a different camouflage, browse all tactical plate carriers.
