Plate Carrier with Groin Protector and Pouches
Plate carrier with groin protector: a ready-made set for the task
A plate carrier with a groin protector suits those who want a platform that comes with a set of pouches and don't want to assemble a rig piece by piece. Such a set is convenient for mobilized soldiers, volunteers and anyone who needs gear fast, without matching compatible parts. Prices start from 3 420 UAH and go up to 7 650 UAH. The price difference mostly depends on how many pouches come in the set and how the platform is built.
How the configurations differ
A plate carrier with pouches and a groin protector comes in several configurations. Always check the pouch list in the description of the specific model.
| Option | What you get | Who it suits |
|---|---|---|
| Groin protector and belly pouch | Minimal set: you buy the other pouches yourself | Those who already have favorite pouches |
| Groin protector and 6–7 pouches | Pouches for magazines, radio, first-aid kit, and in some models a grenade | Those who want a full set out of the box |
| Assault set with 8 pouches | The largest set; the model description states a detachable front MOLLE panel | Those who need to carry a lot of ammo |
What to know about the groin protector itself
A groin protector is a pouch attached to the bottom of the front panel that covers the area over the groin. Before buying, check whether its position is adjustable: a protector that hangs too low gets in the way when sitting, running and getting up from a kneeling position.
A ballistic pack can be inserted into the groin protector only if the model description explicitly says so. The pack is not included in the set and is bought separately. Armor plates are also bought separately, and without plates a plate carrier does not protect by itself.
Common mistakes when choosing a set
The most common mistake is taking the largest set of pouches "just in case." Each pouch adds weight and bulk, so consider what you will actually carry. MOLLE pouches can be rearranged and extras removed, so the set is easy to tailor to yourself.
Another thing to pay attention to is quick release. For example, the ISIK and Single Sword models are stated to have four release points. Check how they are positioned and whether you can easily reach them by hand. If you don't need a groin protector, browse all plate carriers with other configurations.
FAQ
Are armor plates included in the set?
No, the plate carrier is sold without plates. See the description of the specific model for the plate size it fits. Armor plates are selected and bought separately.
Can protection be inserted into the groin protector?
Only if the model description says the groin protector is designed for a ballistic pack. The pack itself is not included. If the description says nothing about it, treat the groin protector as an ordinary pouch.
