Carrying

The sheath covers the blade, and the clip holds the axe on a belt, chest rig or backpack strap. The knife in the handle takes no extra space and does not get lost, and the lanyard keeps the tool from slipping out of a wet hand.

On a Hike

Use the axe to split firewood and chop branches for a fire and the poll to drive pegs, while the knife handles small jobs: cutting food, making kindling, trimming rope. The fire starter lights a fire even in damp weather, and the whistle helps you signal if the group gets separated. The kit is handy to keep in a car, a go-bag or on a field trip.

Care

After use, wipe resin and moisture off the blade and apply a little oil to prevent rust. Store the axe dry in its sheath and touch up the edge with a whetstone from time to time.
