Winter fleece-lined suit: who it's for

An insulated fleece-lined suit is chosen by people who move a lot in winter: at training, on outings, in airsoft or active hunting. It is lighter and thinner than suits with bulky insulation. That is why your shoulders and knees move freely in it, and it fits under a plate carrier without extra bulk. If you need the warmest option for any weather, compare it with other winter tactical suits.

What conditions a fleece lining suits

Fleece performs best in moderate frost, during a thaw and in wet snow, when you are constantly on the move. It wicks moisture away from the body and dries quickly, so after a climb or a forced march you are not standing around in wet clothing. On the other hand, fleece alone is not enough for long stationary duty in the cold. For that you need thermal underwear and another warm layer under the jacket.

Some models, such as the Han Wild G8, are rated down to -25 °C. Treat this figure as a guideline for layering, not as a guarantee of warmth against bare skin. The actual feel depends on wind, humidity and how much you move.

How fleece differs from synthetic padding and Omni-Heat

Synthetic padding (sintepon) keeps you warm through its loft, so a suit with it is warmer when you are still, but thicker and breathes worse under exertion. Omni-Heat is a reflective lining that returns body heat and usually works together with insulation. A fleece suit, unlike them, does not overheat you while moving. However, fleece on its own lets wind through, so look at the outer fabric: rip-stop with a Teflon coating or "Greta" fabric handles protection from wind, snow and rain.

Which set to choose

A jacket with trousers is the simplest option. A 3-in-1 set with a under-armor shirt (ubax) lets you remove or add a layer depending on the weather: the G4 ubax made of a polyester and cotton blend is worn under the jacket or on its own under a plate carrier. A bib-style coverall does not let cold air in at the lower back and does not slide down. Choose camouflage for the task: there are Multicam suits and pixel, including MM-14.

Frequently asked questions

How do I wash a suit with a fleece lining?

Wash in warm water on a delicate cycle without fabric softener, turned inside out. This way the fleece pills less and the outer fabric's water-repellent treatment lasts longer. Dry the suit laid flat, not on a radiator.

Is a pea coat (bushlat) warmer than a fleece jacket?

For stationary work — yes: the longer cut covers the lower back and hips. If you stand more than you walk, take a look at the bushlat and trousers.
