Khyzhak Tactical Pants
Khyzhak pants: what to look for when choosing
The Khyzhak camouflage pattern is most often chosen by those serving in the National Guard or putting together a uniform for a unit that wears this exact camo. The pattern is made up of blotches of different sizes, so the silhouette breaks up well on mixed terrain: in a tree line, in a grassy field, near bushes. Military pants in this pattern are made mostly by Ukrainian manufacturers, so the cut and details differ noticeably from model to model.
Where Khyzhak makes sense and how to build an outfit with it
Khyzhak is a field camouflage, and in the field it really works. In the city, however, it immediately reads as a military uniform, so for everyday wear outside of service it is more convenient to choose neutral colors — you can find them among other tactical pants, for example olive or coyote.
An important nuance: the shade and pattern of Khyzhak differ slightly between manufacturers. If you buy a jacket and pants separately, compare them in photos or choose both from the same manufacturer, for example Caiman, so that the set does not look put together from different parts.
Transitional-season or summer: fabric and knees
Most Khyzhak models are ripstop for the transitional seasons. Caiman uses a blend of 60% cotton and 40% polyester; the fabric is durable, and the stress areas are reinforced with bar-tack stitching. There is also a ripstop of 65% polyester and 35% cotton with a water-repellent finish: it dries faster after dew and light drizzle. For hot weather, Khyzhak twill pants are a better fit — they are lighter and have a hook-and-loop tab at the bottom to adjust the leg opening width.
If you work on your knees a lot, look at the construction: the National Guard (NGU) and Agressor models have additionally stitched knees and hook-and-loop strips beneath them.
Size and camouflage care
The size chart depends on the model: Caiman is made in W/L sizes from 30/32 to 38/34, while others come in the domestic 44–64 size range or in letter sizes. Camouflage fades over time, so wash the pants inside out, without bleach, and dry them away from direct sunlight — this way the pattern stays contrasty for longer.
Frequently asked questions
How much do Khyzhak tactical pants cost?
Prices range from 1 010 to 2 650 UAH. The cheaper models are simple ripstop and twill ones. Pants with reinforced knees, pockets for knee pads, or knee pads included cost more.
Can Khyzhak pants be worn outside of service?
Yes: for hunting, fishing, or hiking they are just as practical. But keep in mind that this is a recognizable military camouflage, so in the city it draws more attention than solid colors.
